This overland adventure journey in 4WD Land Cruisers offers a unique insight into Tibet's extraordinary scenery and culture. You will experience the majestic beauty of the Himalayas, as this journey takes you over several 5000+ meter high mountain passes amidst most amazing mountain views, including the lofty Mt. Everest and many other numerous peaks. On the drive to Lhasa, you will witness picturesque Tibetan settlements and a picturesque landsacape, where nomadic herdsmen can be seen wandering across the wide arid Tibetan Plateau. The tour takes you through the most important towns of Shigatse (Xigatse) and Gyantse, which are full of history, significant ancient monasteries, forts, etc.
This overland trip starts from the historical and cultural city of Kathmandu and ends in Lhasa. You will have two full days to explore the city and see the imposing Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, colorful Barkhor Markets, Drepung Monastery, and other sites. From Lhasa you will have a sensational trans-Himalayan flight back to Kathmandu that passes over Mt. Everest and many of the highest peaks of the world.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu set up in the hotel. In the evening, a welcome dinner in a typical Nepali Restaurant |
Day 02 :
|
The day begings with sightseeing of the highlights historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu including Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, , Swoyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square. Then we return back to the hotel passing by Indrachowk and Assan Streets, the traditional business hub of Kathmandu. |
Day 03 :

Kathmandu(1300m) – Zhangmu(2500m), 123km/156km, approx. 06-08 hour drive. Early morning scenic drive through the typically beautiful Nepalese country side to Kodari (Nepal – Tibet border). On arrival at Kodari, you will go through the immigration formalities in Nepal, check into the Chinese side just the other side of the river, and then travel an hour drive uphill to the Chinese immigration at Zhangmu by Jeep/ bus (sometimes by truck). After immigration formalities, check in to the hotel or drive to Nyalam. Over night at Guest House. |
Day 04 :

Zhangmu/Nyalam – Tingri(4300m) / Lhatse 94350m), 225km/244km, approx. 06-08 hour drive. Day drive to the highest plateau in the world with typical expansive landscape, which evokes the sheer feeling of being on the roof of the world, then cross over the 5050 m Lalunga Pass, from where you can view the breathtaking mountain ranges from Mt.Cho Oyu (8,201m) to Mt.Xishapagma ( 8,012m) which become dwarfed by the vastness of the Tibetan plateau (if weather permits). One can also have a magnificent view of Mt. Everest (8,848m) from Tingri/ Lhatse. Overnight in Guest house. |
Day 05 :

Tingri/Lhatse - Sigatse (3,900m), 244km , approx. 06-08 hour drive. Scenic drive through the highest point, Gyatchu La pass (5,220m), en route to Lhasa via Latse. Overnight in hotel. |
Day 06 :

Xigatse – Gyantse (3,950m), 90km, approx. 2 hour drive. Morning sightseeing of the Panchen Lama’s Tashilumpu Monastery. Drive through Tibet’s biggest agricultural field to Gyantse and visit the Kumbum Stupa and Palkor Monastery . Over night in Hotel. |
Day 07 :

Gyantse – Lhasa (3650m):261 Km. Full day with picturesque drive along the turquoise Lake Yamadrok, crossing over Kampala Pass (4794M) and the Brahma Putra River (Yarlung Tsangpo). Over night in hotel. |
Day 08-09 :

In Lhasa. Two full days of sightseeing to tour Lhasa, including Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potatla Palace, Deprung and Sera Monasteries. Over night in Hotel. |
Day 10 :

Lhasa – Kathmandu. Early morning drive to Gongaar Airport for departure flight to Kathamdu or to your onward destination. |
